Silent GIANTS

3 UNDER-RATED PLAYERS
Fans don't forget Bavaro. They all recall the two Super Bowls titles he helped the team capture during his six seasons with the club, and the 226 receptions for 3,722 yards for a 13.9 yard average, and the 28 touchdowns he scored.

And they remember the intense, quiet toughness Bavaro brought to the job, making him take as much pride in a key block to spring running backs Joe Morris or Ottis Anderson. The spirit and physical pride that made Bavaro once plead in the huddle for Simms to call one more play to his side as the Giants killed the clock in a blowout over the Oilers.

"I'll never forget the way he said it," Simms said. "He had been going at it all game with (former Oilers defensive end) Ray Childress, and Mark in that low, soft voice of his said, I just want to hit him one more time."
